Where each one wins
Where SPD Cert Prep wins
Free tier depth. SPD's free forever plan (15 questions a day plus games and a CE log) is the most generous free product in CRCST prep. FunPrep's free drill now matches the daily questions, but SPD's extras go further.
Game variety. Arcade games, head-to-head play, daily challenges, XP and progression levels. If games are your main motivation, SPD has more of them.
AI tutor and career tools. AI Study Chat, resume builder, job feed, and credential wallet. FunPrep has no AI tutor and lighter career tooling.
Multi-cert path. Triple Crown and Annual cover CHL and CER prep too. FunPrep is CRCST only.
Where FunPrep wins
12 months on every tier. SPD's $29 Pro and $59 Triple Crown last 60 days each. FunPrep's $39 Essentials lasts a full year. Same money, far more runway.
Comedy podcast. Twelve episodes, two hosts, actually fun. Nobody else in the market has one.
Pass guarantee. Plus buyers who do not pass keep full access free until they do. SPD states no guarantee and no refunds.
Full 3-hour simulator. A 150-question, exam-clock simulator on Plus. SPD's mock structure is less clearly defined on its public pages.
Our honest verdict
Pick SPD Cert Prep if you want the deepest free tier, the most games, or CHL and CER prep in the same account. Pick FunPrep if you want a full year of access on every tier, learn by listening, or want a pass guarantee behind your purchase. Both are independent and unaffiliated with HSPA, so the choice is purely about which study style fits you.
